Soul Calibur VI is the seventh installment in the Soul Calibur franchise, a 3D fighting game where characters wield a variety of weapons. The game may evoke nostalgia from playing it years ago, but it doesn't quite measure up to today's games. Onimusha's authentic feel was refreshing, but its repetitive gameplay hasn't aged well. At the time, this was innovative since it combined elements from Resident Evil with swords and replaced slow-moving zombies with diverse and mobile demons as enemies. As you progress through the game, your main character receives upgrades for their weapons to better fight tougher enemies. Onimusha borrowed elements from fixed camera angles and puzzles found in the Resident Evil series, but this time, the core gameplay is centered around melee combat. Onimusha's gameplay revolves around hacking and slashing at enemy demons as offense, while guarding and sidestepping serve as defense. Set in Japan's Warring States period, you play as Samanosuke Akechi, a warrior tasked with rescuing a princess from monsters seeking to revive Oda Nobunaga. Onimusha: Warlords was originally released on the PS2 and later remastered for multiple platforms in 2019.
